The food-driven event, presented by Rialto Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the city, was held in Downtown and brought dozens to fulfill their hunger and experience what local restaurants are serving up in town.

Newcomer to this year’s event and winner of “Best Wine/ Beer” award, was the Yucaipa-based microbrewery, Brew Rebellion, which helped guests wash down food with their Strawberry Rhubarb and Blueberry Honey Wheat ales.

The pub’s co-owner, Ed Parker, who manned the brewery’s booth during the event said Taste of Rialto was something unlike anything he’s ever been a part of.

“It’s a really great way to promote local business,” he said. “They’re really giving light to those places that are about shopping local. It’s great to be able to be a part of this.”

This year’s highlighted eateries included old favorites like Corky’s Kitchen & Bakery serving up generous portions of the classic dish,  turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy. The take on Thanksgiving dinner in summertime earned the local eatery the Taste’s “Best Entrée” award and their in-house baked cookies–chocolate chip, snickerdoodle and oatmeal–were sweet enough to satisfy taste buds claiming it as this year’s “Best Dessert.”

Other returning places like Culichitown, took home “Best Presentation” for their colorful table set up consisting of shrimp ceviche, shrimp empanadas and signature shrimp dish and fusion sushi.

Complete Health Store, which earned some top spots in previous years, made a triumphant return for this year’s event, taking home “Best Appetizer” for their “must have seconds” chicken and firehouse salads.

Confident in their fresh-daily appetizers, when asked if they hoped their salads would take the prize, the store’s owner, d’Lisa Davies and store manager, Jafna Davies, said they knew it would win people over.

While the food was the main focus at the event, guests also enjoyed plenty of live entertainment, dancing, raffles and games.
